It all starts with Cavalier Livestock, where our team of industry experts partner with selected farmers and feedlots that adhere to the most stringent animal welfare protocols and modern rearing programmes to raise healthy and happy animals. Cavalier also has its own Lamb Feedlot, which allows us to ensure year-round supply without any compromise to quality.
The next stage of our value chain is Cavalier Abattoirs. We have slaughter capacity of 300 cattle and 1800 sheep per day. Our slaughter systems are state-of-the-art, and we place top priority on the lasting product integrity and unparalleled shelf-life of carcasses and primal cuts. Our commitment to the welfare of animals continues here and we employ the best and most humane slaughter practices available. Both our Beef and Lamb Abattoirs are fully certified by all major South African, as well as some international, Halaal regulatory bodies.
The third link in the Cavalier value-chain is our full Lamb and Beef deboning lines. These supply our Wholesale and Export markets, as well as raw material for our own manufacturing requirements.
At the end of the chain is Cavalier Foods, were we pride ourselves on having world-class skills and equipment that accommodates both a high-volume and niche product portfolio – the latter including all shelf-ready red meat cuts and biltong. Because our entire operation is situated on one premises, we can ensure an uninterrupted, end-to-end cold chain and quality monitoring.
